NEWSLETTER SEPTEMBER 2009 Dear Friends Well, the very hectic tour of Butlins during the summer is over and I must say that the audiences were absolutely fantastic.  We made a lot of new friends and the comments on our website were brilliant.  We still have a few more Butlins to do and ONLY ONE MORE THEATRE before pantomime.  Circus Hilarious is coming to BURNLEY MECHANICS THEATRE at 2.30pm on Monday 26th October during the half-term run.  Tickets are from £8.00 only and can be purchased by telephoning 01282 664400.  Hope to see you there! Don’t forget to check the Tour Dates page as the new Spring Tour 2010 KEEP BRITAIN LAUGHING dates have just been added and will be updated from time to time as more theatres are booked.  Also, if you didn’t manage to buy a DVD after the show, they can now be purchased by e-mailing cirkshop@btinternet.com.  Circus Hilarious changes every year so the DVD is a compilation of many shows. Clive and Danny were in Newcastle upon Tyne for the Panto Launch on 3 September where they also met the very lovely Roxanne Pallet for the first time, who will be playing Cinderella opposite Danny’s Buttons and Clive’s Baron Hardup.  They also made a commercial for TV to advertise the panto, so look out for that.  We are all looking forward to coming up to Newcastle Theatre Royal again this year – and I personally can’t wait, as it is a fantastic city for Christmas shopping! Love and best wishes from Clive and Danny – who next year are guaranteed to Keep Britain Laughing – Ah! He killed the pigeon!   NEWSLETTER JULY 2009 Dear Friends We are well into the Butlins summer run now and are pleased to announce that we have a new act – The Duo Viro – replacing Anastasia, who sadly left us at the end of the spring run.  Duo Viro, otherwise known as Vivienne & Robert, hail from Hungary and perform a superb juggling act involving a male member of the audience and a brilliant hand-balancing routine.  Clive is now fully recovered from his fall from the stage at Bognor where his knees and his pride took a bashing, especially as someone put it on Facebook, so he is reminded daily of the experience. We have two theatres coming up in the autumn, firstly venturing into Scotland on 12th September in DUMFRIES.  We had a very good reception last time we were there so all you people who keep asking us to come up to Scotland, take a look at the Theatre Royal in Dumfries which is a very quaint old building and very small and cute, so no-one is too far from the stage.  We would love to see you there!  Box Office is 01387 254209 with shows at 2.00 pm and 5.00 pm.  Secondly, we are going to BURNLEY MECHANICS on 26th October for all the Lancashire fans.  If you know anyone who has not seen the show, bring them along – they won’t be disappointed.  Box Office: 01282 664400. Some more news:  If you didn’t manage to buy a DVD at the show, you can now get one by e-mailing cirkshop@btinternet.com – good luck! Keep laughing – from Clive and Danny PS: If you leave a message on the Guest Book, don’t forget to state the town where you live and we will do our best to visit a theatre near you.   NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2009 Our 93 shows at Butlins are now over and we must thank everyone who came to see us there – you were a great audience – we couldn’t wish for better.  Also, a big thank you to all the Butlins crew members.  You were fantastic throughout and we have made a lot of friends for life.  We also enjoyed going up to Dumfries and Burnley where audience figures increased in both cases, so well done to both theatres.  According to our statistician (Mick) this year we have done 100 shows (he’s wrong, we have actually performed 106 shows) and during this time we have gone through several crew members, sound & lighting technicians and dancers – coped with illnesses, minor injuries, hangovers and tantrums – but the show always went on.  Well done to all involved. What are we doing at the moment?  Well Clive is polishing up his skating skills for panto (yes really!) and trying to solve last minute problems.  Danny is practising knife throwing in the warehouse but nobody will volunteer to stand in front of the board.  Wonder why??  Also Clive and Danny with the help of Mick and Dave from Clownforce and Cousin Timoni are preparing and repairing the set and props ready for next year’s show “KEEP BRITAIN LAUGHING”.  Look out for the posters which have just gone out.  New comic illusions are being made and I can’t help but laugh at some of the things they have come up with.  I am busy with risk assessments and contracts for next year – all boring stuff but has to be done.  And don’t forget, someone has to wash and iron all those white shirts, costumes, towels by the dozen etc.  That’ll be me then!  Don’t know when I will get a holiday – aahhh! Looking at next year, the first Circus Hilarious is at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre on 14th February and is booking well so far, and for all you Welsh fans we are at Swansea Grand Theatre on 15th February so dash out and get your tickets now, or book online.  See details on  Dates & Venues. ONE LAST BIG THANK YOU FROM CLIVE AND DANNY  – TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE FOLLOWED US UP AND DOWN THE COUNTRY THIS YEAR AND FOR COMING TO BUTLINS TIME AFTER TIME – IT’S BEEN GREAT TALKING TO YOU AFTER THE SHOW AND GETTING TO KNOW YOU BETTER - SEE YOU NEXT YEAR. And “KEEP BRITAIN LAUGHING” Clive, Danny and Ann   NEWSLETTER                              FEBRUARY 2010 BREAKING NEWS….. At the International Magic Convention on Sunday 21 February 2010, Clive Webb and Danny Adams, assisted by Michael Potts, won the very prestigious Ken Dodd Comedy Award, which was presented to them on stage by the legend himself, Mr Ken Dodd.  The shows for the convention were held on both Saturday and Sunday evenings in Blackpool’s Opera House; the same venue which hosted the Royal Variety Performance attended by the Queen recently. Magician followed magician performing unbelievable slight of hand tricks; there were illusionists, comedians and more magicians with the winning magicians being announced at the end of the interval. Clive and Danny (assisted by Mick) came on in the second half with their speciality – the Decorators slosh routine, which had them rolling in the aisles and the front three rows covered in slosh. The show ended with the brilliant quick change routine of David & Dania. The Sunday show, with Mick Miller as compere, saw Clive and Danny (and Mick) in the first half with their comedy magic, killing the pigeons as usual and covering a member of the audience with porridge in the gunge cabinet, ending with a huge explosion as Clive is caught on the bog with his trousers round his ankles. The show ended with some huge illusions from Franz Harary. And me? I’m left washing and ironing all the costumes as usual!!! But I had a great time and it was such a surprise that I forgot to take a photo, so if anyone out there did take one, please let me know. Panto in Newcastle has come to an end, breaking all Box Office records, not only for the Theatre Royal but the whole of the north- east. A great time was had by all; Sully the cat made his debut and became a great favourite backstage. The snow proved tricky at times, as we couldn’t get the car out of the car park, but “the boys” never missed a show. Tickets are now selling for the 2010/11 pantomime – “Robin Hood” and Clive and Danny are also looking forward to being back in Newcastle in April with Circus Hilarious “Keep Britain Laughing” and also in July, so look out for our posters or click onto the Tour Dates. You never know, we could be in a town near you. We will definitely be back at the Gt Yarmouth Hippodrome for the Easter period 2 – 7 April and for Londoners we are at the Broadway, Catford, on 9 April. Thank you for all your messages. Sorry we can’t answer them all. And a special thank you to you all for just turning up and making our day. And “KEEP BRITAIN LAUGHING” Clive, Danny and Ann
